Welcome

Welcome to the Cramond Boat Club, situated at the mouth of the River Almond, only 4 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.

We cater for all types of small craft, including dinghies, small cruisers and motorboats. The Club organises dinghy and keelboat racing, open regattas, cruises and family fun days.

The Cramond Boat Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and is approved for training Club members in the RYA National Sailing and Power Boating schemes.

The clubhouse includes changing rooms, workshop and storage as well as a bar and function room.

Sailing Season Starts

Today we started our official sailing season with a Free Sail and the first part of our RYA level 1/2 adult sailing course. In-spite of a very light north east wind all had a good day and some of our trainees even managed to do some capsize drills! Many thanks to Alan Mackenzie, Darren Smith and Ben Galloway leading the training and to John Kenworthy, Kay McBurney, Alex Brunner & Campbell Calder for safety cover. More »

Crane-In At Last

Crane-in 2024 finally happened on Saturday 20th April, after two postponements due to bad weather. The weather on Saturday was fine, and everything went well. It was a long, hard day but the keelboats are all floating and the sailing season starts properly tomorrow. Many thanks to everyone who helped with the successful day, particularly the catering team, the safety boat crews and Alastair Johnson for organising and managing the event. More »

Bar Marker Pole Replaced

The marker pole at the west end of the river bar, which has been missing since the February storms, has now been replaced. This is channel marker no. 9 on the Pilotage chart. There is currently no depth gauge on the pole, but a new one will be added in due course. In the meantime, there is a white band on the pole which indicates a depth of between 3ft and More »

Postponed ... Again

Unfortunately, Crane-in has been postponed again.

The forecast for Saturday 13th April shows wind gusts of 40mph which exceeds the operating limit of the crane.
