Sunny Frostbite Four
Published 19:07 on 28 Nov 2023
On Saturday 25 November we had Frostbite 4 in our series. Once again we were blessed with beautiful conditions but there was a limited supply of wind.
Race officer Paul Rogers managed to fit in three races in spite of the very light and shifty south westerly breeze.
The ICLA7/Laser Standards dominated the day with Campbell Calder taking the first race just ahead of Keith Driver, third in a GP14 was Istvan Csajaghy crewed by his young daughter Tünde.
Race two was won by Ewan Christison in his Laser with Campbell second and Keith third.
For race three Paul set a windward leeward course and the racing continued to be very close with Campbell leading Ewan home by a mere five seconds with Keith taking third. Sam Balderstone and Pavol Mraz both put in a fine performances in the club Lasers and it was great to see Jennie and Howie Stansfield getting to grips with their new Laser 2000.
Going into the final two days of Frostbite racing the series is wide open with only four points separating the leading three boats and a little further back in fourth place is Istvan sailing his vintage but very well maintained GP14, Port Nawak.
Many thanks to the Safety Boat crew, Paul Rogers and Finlay Taylor for slick race organisation and excellent photographs.
